Post Report Problems
If anyone has any problems to report regarding this specific game server, please do so here - I'll address them as quickly as I can.

Post Re: Report Problems
Heya,

Well in DM west earlier, as you know, I got the little evil box and and got booted. I tried to rejoin and it kept saying connecting...connecting...etc... I joined other servers to make sure it wasn't just my connection. In window, I could see watery and fried, but no West.

I also noticed ping spiking on your end too Ct, you would go up over 100, not that it's that bad but unusual for either you or I in those.

That said, tis just to let you know bud. ;) I'll try again later to get in there but it's prolly just some server issue from the host.

More likely a problem with one of the hops between you and the server. My connection there was fine tonight and the server ran smoothly. Others were also able to join after you left and we played for quite a while. If you weren't even seeing the server in the list, that generally either means the server is down or your connection to it is really bad... and the server wasn't down.

My ping is almost always over 100 there, which isn't suprising given that I'm on the opposite side of the country from it. The only place it was really spiking tonight was on that IcePack dude's server (bugaboo something?)... it was really bad there.

No worries m8. That's one of the reasons I went with Atlanta instead of Chicago as the location for Southern Fried DM... Chicago's a huge hub for US net traffic and at times the connections there can be awesome. Plus, it's close enough that'd I'd get a pretty low ping there...I know, because Stratocaster's old "Windy City Instagib" server was through the same company at their Chicago server farm.

Unfortunately, at other times it's more "awful" than "awesome" - I think sometimes the amount of data ripping through there is just too much and it kinda stops up the plumbing. Plus, SGS already has a ton of game servers running from that location, which means a better chance of someone else's party on the same server getting to noisy and interrupting ours. :(

Yep, it seems Chicago is the main problem and constant packet loss through there. If I could route differently, I would but the ISP doesn't seem to give a rat's behind. Although, where I live, there aren't many routing choices really, so likely Chicago is going to remain a constant. AAMOF, I get more packet loss to Stirky's through there than most any other server, which explains a lot. Ah well, better than no connection at all I suppose ;) I figure one day, connections will get better with new technology, then i'll be too old to care, lol.

LOL! Hey, ya never know... I started playing Q2 in 1998 on a 28.8 kbps dial-up connection. Here's a speedtest I ran today from here to Chicago:

Unfortunately, Roadrunner throttles the life outta my upload speed (those baistages), but the download rate isn't bad. Things have gotten a bit faster in just the last few years... who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Yep, seems things are back in order today, had one disconnect attempt in watery and that's it. Very sluggish today but that could be me with this cold. Yeah, funny how the speed of light "or close" just isn't fast enough anymore lol. :D
